Touch-A-Truck
Touch-A-Truck is an educational community event that provides children with hands-on opportunities to see and touch heavy machinery and meet the people who build, protect and serve Johnston County communities. Proceeds from this annual fall fundraiser directly benefit Johnston County through the Junior Women's League of Smithfield's initiatives like the Johnston County Blessing Boxes and Peanut Butter Buddies. Funds also support grants for other Johnston County non-profits to assist with the development of programs benefitting women and children. JWL has awarded over $135,000 in Community Impact Grants since its inception in January 2016.
See you in November 2023!
The 5th Annual Touch-A-Truck event was impacted by COVID-19. Though we couldn't touch our favorite trucks, we COULD fill a truck full of diapers to support the Partnership for Children of Johnston County! We collected over 31,000 diapers, as well as wipes and diaper creams, and gave PFCJC a grant award of $12,000 to assist them in the creation of a diaper closet for families in need, the first in Johnston County.
The County and the towns of Benson, Clayton, Four Oaks, Princeton, Smithfield and Wilson’s Mills issued proclamations declaring October Diaper Need Awareness month, bringing further attention to a profound issue that many people in Johnston County struggle with.
