About The Junior Women's League of Smithfield High School Scholarship

The Junior Women's League of Smithfield established the JWL Scholarship in 2019 to advance our mission of fostering women's leadership by empowering young women in our community to achieve their full academic potential. The Grants and Scholarship Committee is dedicated to recognizing outstanding young women in the Johnston County community who demonstrate a strong commitment to personal growth, supporting others, and making a meaningful impact through academic excellence, volunteerism, and community involvement.​​

To date, JWL has awarded $10,000 in high school scholarships to 15 young women residing in Johnston County. In addition, JWL awards one $1,000 scholarship per league year for a single mom attending Johnston Community College, administered by the Johnston Community College Foundation.
