Community Impact Grants & Initiatives

Providing over $200,000 in Community Grants Since 2015

The Junior Women's League of Smithfield (JWL) is pleased to be able to offer Community Impact Grants funded by our signature fundraisers, Big Night Out and Touch-A-Truck.  Proceeds from these fundraisers allow JWL to appropriate monies in a flexible manner to financially support nonprofit community agencies that render services within Johnston County.  It also helps sustain initiatives like Student Scholarships, Professional Development Grants and JWL's Blessing Boxes.

Additionally, these proceeds afford JWL the opportunity to expand its reach with quick community impact grants such as those most recently awarded to Johnston County DSS, JCPS teachers, and "Coats for Kids" at Christmas for children enrolled at My Kid’s Club and Partnership for Children of Johnston County.

The support of our community makes a difference in the lives of so many by providing funding for initiatives that have the largest impact on the needs of Johnstonians all over the county.

For nonprofits who wish to apply for a Community Impact Grant, please note that priority is given to organizations whose projects directly benefit the lives of women and children.

Funds awarded must be utilized for initiatives within Johnston County and shall not be used for an organization’s day to day operating expenses or for religious/political purposes.  The maximum awarded per organization is $5,000 per league year.

The Community Impact Grant application period will reopen in the fall of 2026 for the 2026-2027 league year.

JWL is proud to have contributed over $200,000 towards Community Impact Grants to Johnston County Non Profit Organizations,
