2023-2024 League Year Applications are LIVE!
The Junior Women's League of Smithfield (JWL) is excited to welcome you into our dynamic group of women. Your JWL membership offers opportunities for skill development, leadership, connecting with women from diverse backgrounds, and developing life-long friendships. Most importantly, it provides proper training to become a valuable volunteer to assist our community partners in Johnston County.
Our 2023-2024 League Year starts on September 1, 2023. Membership begins with your Provisional year, where you will learn about our organization, the committees who oversee different aspects of our work, the communities we serve, and the mission behind the impactful efforts we focus on throughout the year. This Provisional year of hands-on training establishes a solid foundation of knowledge with a goal of preparing you to transition into a General Member.
Upon successful completion of your Provisional year, your General Membership can begin. As a General Member, you will have the opportunity to serve the league in various capacities with committee participation and even hold leadership positions, if you are interested.
HOW TO BECOME A PROVISIONAL MEMBER
To be eligible for 2023-2024 membership, women must be 21 years of age at the time of application. To join as a new member, please complete the Provisional Member section of the application. Provisional enrollment is open until February 28, 2024.
Once your application is submitted, along with your $25 non-refundable application fee, a JWL member will reach out using the contact information provided. This member will formally welcome you to the league and review next steps in your membership journey. Once this process is completed, you will then submit the remaining $75 membership dues to finalize the application.
WHAT TO EXPECT AS A PROVISIONAL MEMBER
Requirements:
● Complete 4 volunteer hours.
● Fulfill member requirements for League fundraisers (Touch-A-Truck and Big Night
Out).
○ Members who join the league from May 1 - August 31 will be required to meet
Touch-A-Truck and Big Night Out requirements during their Provisional year.
○ Members who join the league from September 1 - February 28 will be required to
meet Big Night Out requirements during their Provisional year.
● Complete one "Done in a Day" JWL Volunteer Day.
GENERAL MEMBERS, ACTIVE SUSTAINERS, PATRON MEMBERS
All returning members can complete the General Member, Active Sustainer, or Patron Member section of the application. Returning member applications must be completed by August 1, 2023.
