Community Impact Initiatives

Grant Applications Now Being Accepted

The Junior Women's League of Smithfield (JWL) is pleased to be able to offer Community Impact Grants funded by our signature fundraisers, Big Night Out and Touch-A-Truck.  Proceeds from these fundraisers allow JWL to appropriate monies in a flexible manner to financially support nonprofit community agencies that render services within Johnston County.  It also helps sustain initiatives like Student Scholarships, Professional Development Grants and JWL's Blessing Boxes.

Additionally, these proceeds afford JWL the opportunity to expand its reach with quick community impact grants such as those most recently awarded to Johnston County DSS, JCPS teachers, and "Coats for Kids" at Christmas for children enrolled at My Kid’s Club and Partnership for Children of Johnston County.

The support of our community makes a difference in the lives of so many by providing funding for initiatives that have the largest impact on the needs of Johnstonians all over the county.

For nonprofits who wish to apply for a Community Impact Grant, please note that priority is given to organizations whose projects directly benefit the lives of women and children.

Funds awarded must be utilized for initiatives within Johnston County and shall not be used for an organization’s day to day operating expenses or for religious/political purposes.

Funding may only be used for initiative activities that occur between September 15, 2023 and June 15, 2024.

Requests for funding must be submitted at least 60 days prior to the date of need.

The Community Impact Grant application period for the 2023-2024 league year is open.

JWL is proud to have contributed over $155,000 towards
